Californian Massage

“Californian Massage was one of the best massages I have ever had. It left me feeling deeply relaxed and also rejuvenated, which was a wonderful feeling. It also made a refreshing change from Deep Tissue and Swedish massage. This is a really special treatment from a highly skilled practitioner and I will definitely be booking in again. By Danny W”

Originating as the name suggests in California, this massage technique is growing in popularity in the UK.

It was developed in the 1970’s during a personal growth workshop at the Esalen Institute® in Big Sur California. More than just a means of relaxation this massage technique was intended to give the recipients a chance to reconnect with their body.

Californian massage is comforting and reassuring, great for clients with stress or anxiety. It is also intended to relieve deep-seated and sometimes long-standing muscle tension. Based on Swedish massage, California massage borrows several moves from its Nordic counterpart including kneading, frictioning and gliding pressure. It is also characterised by long and developing movements.

California massage is very soothing and may give relief from chronic pain conditions, such as fibromyalgia or arthritis. A Californian massage session begins with an overall assessment of the client. Whether preventative or palliative in nature the California massage can benefit anyone looking to sustain a healthy relationship with his or her body.

First and foremost it is a massage of relaxation. Californian Massage is available with Lorena from Wednesday through to Friday plus most Saturdays and Sundays.
